The power of silver
Silver has very powerful antibacterial properties: it is sufficient the presence of a part on 100 million elemental silver in a solution, to have an effective antibacterial action. Positive free radicals of silver are an active antibacterial agent. To have a bactericidal effect, they must be available on the bacterial surface; upon contact with it, silver instantly destroys microorganisms, blocking the enzymatic respiratory system (i.e. the production of energy) and altering the microbial DNA and the cell wall, without causing toxic effects on human cells in vivo.
In addition to the recognized antibacterial properties, silver has the power to facilitate the healing of “lazy lesions” (difficult to solve) and regenerate the damaged tissue. The demonstration of a lower inflammatory reddening of the lesions in contact with silver also attests to the anti-inflammatory properties of this precious element.
Technology behind fiber
ALE&GIÒ socks are made of a special yarn that bases its peculiarities on the several beneficial and healing qualities of silver. Born after years of research and studies carried out in the testing laboratories, the yarn is exclusive and innovative, based on 99.9% pure silver. To obtain this special fiber, there was a collaboration with some prestigious universities and research institutes, succeeding in obtaining a product that combines the textile needs with the beneficial characteristics of silver.
The yarn is created by combining a layer of about 0.5 micron of silver (about 20%), 99.9% pure, with a textile support, through a particular and articulated production process. The silver treated in this way is irreversibly bound to the textile surface, and then joined by further processing processes with natural fibers such as cotton.
Qualities of ALE&GIÒ socks
The reflection factor of infrared, IR, of silver is more than 95%. This is the highest value compared to any other element, and means that 95% of the radiant energy that comes into contact with silver is reflected back to its source. As a result, the ALE&GIÒ sock minimizes heat loss by reflecting its own energy on the skin.
Silver has one of the lowest rates of radiance among all the elements. This means that it has a very low radiation rate of the thermal energy. Silver therefore remains hot for a long time (as opposed to other elements that retain heat for a very short time). The ALE&GIÒ sock ensures that the heat that is not reflected on the body is absorbed and stored in the fiber for a very long period of time.
The ALE&GIÒ sock accelerates the natural transfer of moisture through water-repellent materials with the same process used by the body through evaporation. In a humid environment, the conductive properties of the sock increase the evaporation rate of moisture compared to other water-repellent materials.
Silver, among all the elements present on Earth, has the highest rate of thermal conduction. This means that the stocking actively works to distribute heat quickly and uniformly throughout the product, and to allow its subsequent transfer. During the hot season, when conduction is the main heat transfer agent, the ALE&GIÒ sock favours the natural action of the body by accelerating the conduction from the heat emitted by the skin (while a traditional fabric simply offers a barrier to heat conduction). As a silver teaspoon in a cup of boiling tea makes, the ALE&GIÒ sock conducts the heat of the skin to the surrounding air, thus allowing the cooling of the human body.
